Sony introduces this morning, a new Vaio P, a completely remade from ground-up Vaio P, designed to bring way more versatility to the already sexy Vaio P. The basic model comes with an Atom Z530 (1.60GHz) or an Atom Z560 (2.13GHz) on Order made ones, with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of SSD and an Intel SCH US15W chipset offering a nice 1600×768 resolution on 8” monitor. Our new Vaio P comes with WiMax, WiFi ABGN, Bluetooth a 0.31Mpix Camera with a total weight of 619g. The new Vaio P also introduces a new touch sensitive trackpad on the right side of its monitor. To spice up things a little more, Sony will offer the Vaio P in 5 different colors as well as a “Crocodile” skin.

But the design and specs change are not the most important aspect of this new release and Sony with this new Vaio P brings the PS3 Remote play to its Vaio Line-up (The Vaio P will be the first to carry the PS3 Remote Play). If you own a PS3 with the latest firmware (3.30) you will be capable to access to your PS3 contents and even recorded TV programs from the comfort of your Vaio P. The new Vaio P also brings something quite new over at SONY, with the usage of an accelerometer that will tilt your screen accordingly and will further enhanced its GPS function, or to even let you jump from one picture to another in a sideshow via a simple tilt.

Anyway, like usual we will have to wait to have this baby in hands in order to fully appreciate its new features.

Press Release

Sony delivers a smarter on-the-move computing experience: Ultra-portable, easy to carry new VAIO P Series
10 May 2010
· Colourful ultra-portable PC weighs just over 600g
· New design for two-handed operation while standing or walking
· GPS and Digital Compass
· Accelerometer sensor
· Built-in Everywair 3G (WiMax in the JAPAN)
· Clear, bright, widescreen VAIO Display Plus

· Easy to use with Quick Web Access

It’s smaller than a notebook and smarter than a smartphone: the colourful VAIO P Series from Sony is your perfect partner for on-the-move computing.

Weighing just over 600g and slipping effortlessly into a bag or jacket pocket, new VAIO P Series gives you all the power of a fully-featured Windows® computing experience… and so much more.

Ideal for busy people who can’t sit still, it’s the first VAIO designed for simple operation if you’re standing or walking. The central trackball is complemented by an additional touchpad and mouse buttons. Duplicating the main controls, they’re located at either edge of the screen for comfortable operation with both thumbs while you’re holding the computer in two hands.

VAIO P Series is the first notebook computer from Sony with built-in GPS and a new Digital Compass. Perfect for telling you where you are and what’s happening around you, they can help you find your hotel or a nearby restaurant if you’re standing on the street corner in an unfamiliar city1.

A brand-new VAIO Location Search software offers a real-time map view without tying up your web browser. Your map position and orientation are displayed along with nearby Points of Interest and even local weather conditions.

The ultra-light notebook’s ‘on-the-go’ credentials for travellers are boosted with Everywair 3G on-board, giving high-speed connectivity to mobile networks (where available).

New VAIO P is the first notebook from Sony with a built-in accelerometer that responds to physical movements. Just give VAIO a gentle shake to ‘flick’ through pictures or the pages of a PDF document, or navigate back and forth through your web browsing history.

The sensor also recognises when VAIO P Series is turned on its side, automatically ‘flipping’ the screen for easy reading of documents or web pages in portrait mode. The notebook’s additional mouse buttons are perfectly placed for comfortable page-turning when you’re reading in portrait position – just like a paperback book or magazine.

New VAIO P Series is beautifully designed for easy operation, with a comfortable full-pitch keyboard for easy typing, plus a bright, extra-wide VAIO Display Plus that’s ideally proportioned for viewing movies or two web pages side-by-side. There’s also an ambient light sensor that dims screen illumination for comfortable viewing while saving power.

For extra convenience, dedicated buttons are provided for Quick Web Access and one-touch access to VAIO Care. There’s also a handy new Change Resolution button: instantly select a larger font size for easy on-screen reading, or choose maximum detail for HD movie viewing.

Available in five vibrant colours (black, white, pink, green and orange), the new VAIO P Series is complemented by a choice of stylish accessories that includes a distinctively perforated silicone slip case and carry strap.

The new VAIO P Series ultra-portable notebook computer is available from June 2010.

And once again such a cool little device is coming from the fast growing Korea (watch out Japan!!!) Offered by DesignMAX “yourpebbles” is a pebble-shaped platinum-silicon based all-in-one cradle than can hold your beloved Smartphone, like an iPod for example, without the needs of any glue or fitting, can be used either at home or in your car, as well as being used as a simple cradle for your notebook thanks to its heat-resisting property.

With almost limitless ways to use “yourpebbles” we are sure that this nice little piece of design will find its place on your desk, and as demonstrated on the picture below it can even be used as an armrest to relieve you off your fatigue at work.

Although so far this product is only available in Korea, the company behind “yourpebbles” is working hard to spread the word and to get this product on the overseas shelves.

This innovative design was submitted into the inhabitat Spring Green competition which challenged designers and crafters to take pieces of junk and transform them into something cool and original. The competition is still running at the moment so if you’d like to cast your vote for the ElasticShelf pop over to the inhabitat website to cast your vote.

Normally when you’ve got industrial design students going wild on computer concepts, you get a lot of wild, unrealistic computer concepts. There’s plenty of that here, but this 10 week collaboration between Freescale, some of its top partners, and Savannah College of Art and Design students is yielding a bit of fruit. We particularly like this docking tablet that can slot into different docks depending on use case — the two primary ones shown being a home entertainment setup and a pro audio breakout. Sure, it’s still not the most realistic way to use a tablet — we’d much rather have solid support for 3rd party USB devices in the near term — but with a bit of Light Peak and some as-ye-unseen pricing, this could make for some pretty slick use cases.

They say Water Is Life, and as far as this cool Bedol Clock is concerned I must say the above mentioned fact has reached it’s ultimate limit, it has granted life to a non loving thing, a clock to be precise. The Bedol Eco-Friendly clock is powered by just plain water and and a dash of lemon juice and nothing else, no batteries, no spring loaded mechanisms or any external source of electricity.

The Bedol water clock is one of the many new age devices that are here to save the planet and make it a bit more greener and sustain it for a bit longer, since it runs on just plain water it cannot be polluting in nature or even harm Mother Nature in any way!

The clock works on the principle of formation of an galvanic cell that is initiated by the reaction between the water added and small dash of natural lemon juice that acts as the catalyst. Once filled the clock will function continuously for 8-12 weeks before crashing down, and even while it is down and needs a refill it does not loose track of time as there is a in-built memory chip that keeps the proper track of time and ensures that you stay right on the schedule.

The best part of this eco-friendly gadget is that it sells for only $16.00 unlike the other highly priced ones. You can also check out the other cool gadgets that have the approval of Mother Nature like the Recycled Motherboard Coasters or the HP Eco-Computer design, all of which aim to make our planet a lot greener!

We all might remember Winnie The Pooh to be this fun and cute little bear who just loves to eat huge amounts of honey for all his three meals of a day, but what we see here is probably a distant relative of the Pooh form the family of the Three Little Pigs.

This Piggy faced Pooh Phone might look like a toy to you but believe me folks it is packed with all the standard features you would find in any other cool phone, it’s just that it has disguised in this form to appeal to all lovers of cute and cuddly stuff!

The little small black dot you see on the Piggy-Pooh phone’s nose is it’s 0.3 megapixel (VGA) camera, carefully blended into the phone so that not many can spot it, also the eyes and the mouth light up and flash lights every time you play some music, and each time they flash differently for a different track!

Selling for just $499 RMB (about $73) the Chinese phone manufacturers did not have any legal right to make the Pooh phone and hence they created this Piggy-Pooh phone instead, but for some odd reason there exists a Disney logo at the back.

But you can have a look at the other cool phones that will really catch you eye like the Ku! Phone Design or the Lenovo Lephone, the creation of a visionary!
